Rick McCormack, Director

I graduated from Applied Information Technology, 1990 at Capilano College, appearing on the Dean's List, Spring, 1990. I am the owner/director of Imagistics Business Theatre Technologies, a small business technology consultancy.

In the past 10 years, I was:
• Network Manager, Canada for Phone Directories Company, Ltd.;
• Supervising Technician, School of Communication, Simon Fraser University.

These positions capitalized on my experience with Apple and Macintosh computers, and added experience with other brands and operating systems, networks, help desk operation and supervision. As part of the management and administration, I have assumed greater responsibility for budgets, contract negotiations and staff management. As a consultant, I have worked with individuals and companies. Most recently, I developed a combined Excel/Word application for tracking insured companies and generating insurance renewals and reports.

I have worked as a permanent part-time I.T manager to highly specialized consulting companies (such as The Mackenzie Institute) who need focused and very responsive solutions to networking and software application problems. These clients need to interface seamlessly with senior executives at large sophisticated organizations, without having in-house full-time I.T. resources.

In all my work, I have been a team player (both member and leader), a self-starter and a motivated independent worker. While I strive to work 'smarter' I am willing and able to work harder when the job calls for it.

I am a problem-solver, with the ability to synthesize a broad range of experience and a varied technology background into solutions fitted to a wide range of end-users, from corporate officers to carpenters. I have supported local and remote graphic artists in a production environment, and installed telephone and network cabling for corporate headquarters and branch offices. I developed electronic "change request" forms to simplify tracking and recording computer and telephone installations, repairs and upgrades.

I maintain my technical and management skills by attending workshops, using on-line training programs and by extensive reading of trade and technical journals and mail-lists to which I also contribute ideas and solutions.

In short, my entire background and experience has been to support and educate end-users, to develop and increase their skill levels, and to improve productivity. I would enjoy extending my current skills on behalf of your team.

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss my background in detail. I will be most happy to supply references.
